Why is the Park wet underfoot in the lower section? Using the wonderful British Geological Survey website, perhaps we find a reason:
Does rainwater infiltrate into the Beckley Sand Member (orange in the figure) up slope and emerges at a “Spring Line” where the underlying West Walton Mudstone Formation (yellow) forms an impermeable layer? The Oxford Jurassic seas were like those of the Bahamas today. Just imagine!
